I was raised by two Oklahoma parents who moved out to Washington State to have and raise us kids, and then they moved back. It was a church-going home and we were in church every Sunday. Looking back, I can see where our Lord had His hand on me from a young age. But late in my high school years and into the Marines, I found the ways of the world to be inviting and I wandered away. Then in 1992 the Lord began to convict my heart and I started going back to church. One Sunday evening after the service was over, I started to get up to go to Dairy Queen as usual, but the Lord sat me back down and told me that I wasn't going anywhere until I got right with Him. I gave my life to Him that night. Over the years I've had some ups and downs, but God showed me that He keeps His promise never to leave or forsake us. He truly is a God of restoration.
Having been a Truck Driver since 1984 and called into the ministry in 1992, while in seminary I found a mobile Chapel operated by another ministry and served there for 5 years. Then I left the trucking ministry and served in motorcycle ministry for a few years. Realizing where my heart was, I went to the TA in Tonopah, AZ. Soon, Chaplain Marlin Elliott came in to the TV room and I began to talk with him about TMI. I asked if he had enough help and suggested he do some recruiting. He said, “I am. I’m recruiting you!” I started volunteering with Truckstop Ministries, Inc. in 2013 and served until I moved to Texas.
In 2023, I was blessed to marry a wonderful Christian lady, Miss Bobbie. Shortly after we were married, the Lord renewed my passion for ministering to the trucking industry. We began going to the TA in Fairfield to invite Drivers to our church, and soon Bobbie began to share my passion. Our Lord made it clear that He was calling us to full-time ministry with Truckstop Ministries, Inc. Just being in the truck stop for 45 minutes to an hour on Sundays, it was obvious that the need for full-time ministry was still great.
Wherever you are in life, Jesus does love you. He went to the cross in your place, died for your sins, and rose again on the third day. Keep your focus on Jesus and don’t look to the left or right. In the words of Charles Stanley, "God has a plan for your life, and you don't want to miss it!"
